Studying Memo Kantun’s Ritual de los Bacabes led me to a bug in the app. The image shows Memo’s “bakana”, the app’s earlier rendering, and the corrected version. In the older output, the right-side affix glyph was incorrectly oriented relative to the main glyph. This bug affected a lot of writing.
Transforming and rendering affix glyphs turns out to be tricky. To reorient an affix, the app may rotate the glyph 90° clockwise, mirror it across the main glyph, or apply both transformations. Exactly which steps are required depends on the how the affix glyph appeard in Alex Tokovinine’s catalog and where in the glyph block the affix is being rendered.
I’m glad I found this problem. A new release of the #AncientMayaApp will be available in a week or two.
